Monopoly....

Just few weeks ago, i taught Javan numbers in words.
So i test him if he understand...




He took this writing board on his own, recite and writing down on his own, one hundred..two hundred......one Thousand...
Did not expect him to count and write till one thousand though he can count in 5s and 10s.

World Flag

We played around 5 times and Javan is able to recognise 31 country flags.
There are a total of 36 country flags.
He'a also able to know the exact location for each flag.
Now he's also trying to read the chinese words of the countries on the board.

MRT Freak

Lately Javan has lots of request in taking MRT!!! I assume he has visited at least 80% of the circle line station. He still loves MRT best, from 2.5 Yr old (or earlier) till now....3.5 Yr old. from recognising the stations names to knowing all stations numbering (eg, braddell is NS18...) to able to spell stations correctly (able to spell some correctly).
We have more or less confiscated his ipad coz he can spend the whole night (from 8pm to 10pm ++) on searching for MRT/LRT on youtube. BUt that is also where he learnt the spelling of the different stations. HE has totally forgotten about his favourite books :-(

Nursery Rhymes

Few days ago i posted.

Last night i took the chance to ask Javan, what is the title in no. 3....11....18.......5....Tadaa....he knew it and is able to tell me correctly the song title. I knew he will know it, cause he really has got good memory.
He's also able to sing more nursery rhymes now, he has learnt most of it in school.

Colouring in school

Last Friday (13 May 2011), Javan bought home this pyramid that he coloured in school.


Today (16 May 2011), Javan brought this red apple home.

He has been sitting on the bench looking at the CD cover for ages. For a moment, i thought something had happened. I look at him and saw that he's ok and still looking at the CD song title. That happens on Saturday when i played the CD song for him.

So yesterday, Sunday. I asked him, What song is next, and to my surprise he look at the CD title and told me "You are my sunshine"...and yes, last saturday he was reading the CD song title.

Clock...Telling The Time

I bought this clock (preloved) for Javan. It's neither too hard nor too easy for him. Just right! So he only learn the exact hour and half past time. Eg. 12, Twelve o'clock and 12.30, half past Twelve o'clock. It has 2 mode, Javan move the hour and the minute hand, the clock tells the time. Another is the clock say the time and Javan move the hour and minutes hand, which is more interactive, more fun. He's having fun! He learn it pretty fast. At first we tell him where to move the clock hand, after that he get the hang of it. He's able to tell us half past Twelve is 十二点半.

Years.....

Last night while on Youtube, Javan wanted to search for Monday-Sunday and January-December.
He type in "monday" (on his own) on the search, so i tell him, he should key in "days on the week" in order to see Monday-Sunday...
He also type in "January" (on his own) on the search area, again i tell him, he should key in "months of the year" in order to see January-December.
Well, he enjoyed the days and months songs very much. not so much of the songs but seeing the different days and months wording are what he enjoyed most.

So..he asked for "2011, 2012, 2013, 2014....." it's the YEAR in case nobody understand! just like me!! haa...
He was somehow fedup when nobody understand and he cannot find the years when he type in "2011201220122014...." I think he cannot understand why the days and months can be found, BUT why not the YEAR?

Days of the Week

Last night when i asked Javan How you spell: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
And BINGO!!! He can spell all correctly. Im surprise coz we did not teach him or ask him to spell before that. I guess this is why he can remember (see picture).

Everyday he would pester us to let him have the colours and write Monday to Sunday (we hold his hand).
He will insist that Daddy tell him what are the monday to sunday colour that he should be writing with. He knew the colour! Once Daddy said it wrongly, he will protest and keep asking again and again till Daddy tells him the correct colour (stubborn!)
Mon-Blue, Tue-Green, Wed-Orange, Thurs-Purple, Fri-Pink, Sat-Yellow, Sun-Red.



He said "Teacher say, today is 1 March 2011 (Two Thousand Eleven), Tuesday"

+1....-1.....

I asked Javan 5+1, 8+1 and he knows it. That was 2 wks back when i visited mum and sis says that he can memorised it. somehow i belief that he memorised it, since he has such good memory.
It came to my mind, only last week, that i should try out, is Javan memorising +1..so i try on him last weekend. He got it all correct when i ask him, 30+1, 49+1..all which was not on the +1 table. So i know he really knows +1.
I took the chance to tell him -1 by pointing to the numbers on the numbers chart (he knows his accending and decending so well). Immediately he knows it. So i try out 50-1, 17-1.... He's able to tell me correctly. Still a bit confused over the 3 digit.
That's goods enough for a yet to be 3 year old kid.

Weight: 14Kg (75 Percentile)

Updates on speech:-
improving on speech having more surprises everyday on what he's able to speak, including some sentences. Mostly on English/Mandarin.
Javan told me "爸爸洗衣服"
(papa is indeed washing clothes in kitchen yard)
He really follow what we say!

He's on "talking-NON STOP" mode when he's on the bed, for Bed time!!

Well, what does he says??
Anything under the moon that he can think of:-

Learning:-
We brought out the flashcard that we kept in a big box since last year (i think).
Now, he's so interested in flashcard that he keep telling us to read the cards to him, esp Daddy.
He prefers Daddy to read flashcard to him than Mummy.

Thanks to his "superb memory", he's able to recognise some words in English/Chinese after Daddy read few times to him.

He understand most word too. He will show us by pointing/action/imitating.
Eg, laugh (he laugh out loud), cry (pretend to cry), rice (point to the wall chart), run (pretend to run)...he did mostly on his own.

Begining to count back from 10 to 1, eg. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Happy 29 Month...1 more month to 2.5 Years!!!!!

Counting

Javan is able to count now....
Mummy: 1,2,3,4
Javan: pine
Mummy: 6,7
Javan: eigh, nine nine nine nine, ten
Mummy: 11
Javan: eerrrr...(represent twelve, that's how i knows that he can count..), thirteen....
Mummy: ........

Unsure that Javan can count till which number.
But quite sure that he can count till 20. (Daddy counted 20+ with him and he's able to count some accurately...TBC...)

Though he's able to recognise from 1 - 100, mummy hope that he can count at least till 50.. :-p
